UN Women Strategic Note in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Aim: Reducing gender inequalities.

How:  Sweden is a strategic partner to UN Women in Bosnia and Herzegovina, supporting the implementation of the UN Women Strategic Note. UN Women works with a variety of actors, from governmental institutions at different levels to civil society organizations, to contribute to accelerating the country’s EU accession process through reducing gender inequalities and promoting empowerment of girls and women in the country, both centrally and locally. This includes ensuring girls’ and women’s active participation in political and economic decision-making, empowering women’s economic position, and ending all forms of gender-based violence.

Why: Reducing gender inequalities is an important component in accelerating the country’s EU accession process.
