Tax System Reform – Phase 2

Aim: Improve the tax administrations’ capacity and contribute to a transformation for more modern, trustworthy, and helpful tax administrations in Bosnia and Herzegovinawith better services to citizens and taxpayers.

How: The project is a collaboration between the Swedish Tax Agency (STA) and the tax administrations in Bosnia and Herzegovinawhere focus is on capacity development and learning peer-to-peer. This project is a continuation of a first project phase (2017-2021) that the STA is implementing together with the tax authorities and finance ministries in BiH.Sweden has extensive experience of successful tax reform. Tax administrations in the Federation, Republika Srpska and Brcko District have appointed staff members, including senior staff, to participate in a range of trainings and workshops on various topics together with experts from the STA. 

Why: In the long run, the project aims to prepare BiH for reforms within the tax system and its institutions in order for the country to approach EU membership.
